Pandav jab vanvaas mein the, to unhein kai kathinaiyon ka saamna karna pada. Unke paas khaane ka saman bahut kam tha.
Bahut se rishi aur mehmaan unse milne aate the, lekin Draupadi ke paas unhein khilane ke liye kuchh bhi nahi hota tha.
Draupadi dukhi hokar Bhagwan Krishna ko yaad karti thi aur prarthana karti thi ki wo unki madad karein.
Ek din Krishna Pandavon se milne aaye. Draupadi ne sharm se unhein khaali bartan dikhaya aur ro padi.
Usne kaha, "Hey Krishna, mere paas aapko khilane ke liye kuch bhi nahi hai."
Krishna muskuraye, aur us bartan mein dekha. Unhein ek gehu ka dana uske kone mein chipka hua mila.
Krishna ne us ek dana ko kha liya, aur bola:
"Is ek dana se mujhe hi nahi, poore vishwa ko tripti mil gayi hai. Ab tum kabhi bhookhe nahi rahoge."
Krishna ne Draupadi ko Akshaya Patra ka vardaan diya — ek aisa divya bartan jo tab tak anant bhojan deta rahega jab tak Draupadi khud na kha lein.
After the Pandavas were exiled to the forest for 13 years, they faced great hardships, including lack of food. Many sages and visitors came to see them, and Draupadi, their wife, struggled to feed everyone due to limited resources.
Draupadi was heartbroken and prayed to Lord Krishna for help.
One day, when Krishna visited them, Draupadi wept and showed Him the empty vessel they used for cooking. She apologized for not being able to serve Him food.
Krishna smiled, looked into the vessel, and found a single grain of rice stuck to the side. He ate that grain and declared:
"This one grain has satisfied not just me, but the entire universe. You will never lack food again."
Moved by her devotion, Krishna blessed the Pandavas with the Akshaya Patra, a magical vessel that would provide unlimited food until Draupadi herself ate — making sure no guest would ever go hungry.
It is believed that this event happened on Akshaya Tritiya.
