Bahut samay pehle, Maa Parvati ne socha ki unke snan ke dauraan koi unki raksha kare. Isliye unhone apne snan ke liye istemal kiye gaye haldi ke lep se ek ladke ko banaya aur usme praan daal diye. Yeh ladka hi Ganesha tha.
Parvati ne use kaha, “Bahar khade raho aur kisi ko bhi andar mat aane dena.”
Thodi der baad, Bhagwan Shiva, jo Parvati ke pati the, ghar laut aaye aur andar jaane lage. Lekin Ganesha ne, jo Shiva ko nahi jaante the, unhe rok diya. Shiva ko gussa aaya aur unhone chetavani di, lekin Ganesha apni jagah se nahi hile.
Shiva bahut krodhit ho gaye aur dono ke beech yuddh hua. Aakrosh mein aakar Shiva ne Ganesha ka sir kaat diya.
Jab Parvati bahar aayi aur yeh dekha, toh woh dukhi aur krodhit ho gayi. Unhone Ganesha ko wapas jeevit karne ki maang ki.
Shiva ne apni galti samjhi aur apne ganon ko kaha ki pehle jeevit prani ka sir le aayein jo unhe mile. Ve ek haathi ka sir lekar aaye.
Shiva ne us haathi ka sir Ganesha ke sharir par lagaya aur use wapas jeevan diya. Unhone ashirwad diya, “Tum Ganesha kehlaye jaoge, vighnaon ko door karne wale banoge, aur tumhari pooja har naye kaam se pehle ki jaayegi.”
Isi din ko Vinayaka Chaturthi ke roop mein manaya jaata hai — Bhagwan Ganesha ke janm divas ke roop mein.
Story of Vinayaka Chaturthi
Long ago, Goddess Parvati wanted someone to guard her while she bathed. So, from the turmeric paste she used for her bath, she shaped a boy and breathed life into him. This boy was Ganesha.
Parvati told him, “Stand outside and do not let anyone enter.”
Soon, Lord Shiva, Parvati’s husband, returned home and tried to enter. But Ganesha, not knowing who Shiva was, blocked his path. Shiva grew angry and warned the boy, but Ganesha did not move.
In his fury, Lord Shiva fought the boy and, in the battle, cut off his head.
When Parvati came out and saw what had happened, she was heartbroken and furious. She demanded that Ganesha be brought back to life.
Shiva, realizing his mistake, sent his followers to bring the head of the first living creature they saw — which happened to be an elephant.
They brought the elephant’s head, and Shiva placed it on the boy’s body, giving him life again. He blessed him, saying, “You will be known as Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, and will be worshipped before any new beginning.”
That day is celebrated as Vinayaka Chaturthi — the birth of Lord Ganesha.
