Varamahalakshmi Vratham Ki Kahani

Varamahalakshmi Story Image

Bahut samay pehle Magadh naam ke ek rajya mein ek bhakti se bhari mahila rehti thi jiska naam Charumathi tha. Woh bahut dayalu, vinamra aur Lakshmi Mata ki pakki bhakt thi.

Ek raat Charumathi ko sapne mein Lakshmi Mata darshan dekar boli,

“Shravan mahine ke kisi Shukravaar ko vishesh vrat karo. Main tumhe dhan, sukh, aur samriddhi ka vardaan dungi.”

Charumathi ne agle din apne sapne ke baare mein apne pati aur parivaar ko bataya. Unhone isse shubh maan kar usse vrat rakhne ke liye ashirvaad diya.

Charumathi ne vrat ki poori taiyaari ki. Usne apne gaon ki anya mahilaon ko bhi bulaya. Sabne milkar Varalakshmi Mata ka vrat kiya.

Unhone ek kalash sajaya — kalash par aam ke patte lagaye, upar ek narial rakha, aur Lakshmi Maa ki moorti ya chitra rakha. Mahilaon ne maata ke liye geet gaaye, prarthna ki, aur meetha bhog chadhaya. Unhone haathon mein pavitra dor bandha aur samarpan ke saath vrat kiya.

Is vrat ke baad, Charumathi aur uska parivaar bahut hi samriddh aur sukhi ho gaya. Dheere dheere poore gaon mein khushhali chha gayi.

Tab se har saal, Shravan mahine ke Shukravaar ko, vivahit mahilaayein apne pati aur parivaar ki kalyan ke liye Varamahalakshmi Vratham karti hain. Yah vrat Maa Lakshmi ke Varalakshmi roop ko samarpit hota hai — jo apne bhakton ko ichchhit vardaan deti hain.

Story of Varamahalakshmi Vratham

Long ago, in the kingdom of Magadha, there lived a kind and devoted woman named Charumathi. She was known for her selflessness, respect toward elders, and deep devotion to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and well-being.

One night, Goddess Lakshmi appeared in Charumathi’s dream. The goddess was pleased with her devotion and said,

"Perform a special vratham (ritual) on a Friday in the month of Shravana, and I shall bless you and your family with health, wealth, and happiness."

The next day, Charumathi told her family about the dream. With their blessings, she prepared for the ritual. She invited other women in the community, and together they prayed to Varalakshmi – a form of Goddess Lakshmi who grants boons (varas).

They decorated a kalash (pot) with a coconut, mango leaves, and a beautiful image of the goddess. They tied sacred threads, sang hymns, offered sweets, and prayed with pure hearts.

Soon after, Charumathi’s family and the entire town were blessed with peace and prosperity. The news of this special vratham spread far and wide. Since then, married women especially observe Varamahalakshmi Vratham to pray for the well-being of their families.
